About Us

Fettercairn Community and Youth Centre was set up in 1984 to address the needs of the residents in the Fettercairn area of Tallaght. The present building was completed in 2001.

 

The Centre caters for the people of Fettercairn and the surrounding areas in West Tallaght. Fettercairn consists mainly of 3 housing estates, Kilcarraig, Kilmartin and Drumcairn.

 

 

Fettercairn Community and Youth Center (FCYC) provides a safe and welcoming space for young people to socialize and participate in various activities, such as sports, music, drama, and art, which promotes their physical, emotional, and social development. It also offers opportunities for young people to engage in volunteering and leadership roles, which helps build their confidence, skills, and sense of responsibility.

Moreover, the center is a hub for community events and activities, such as family fun days, cultural festivals, and educational workshops, that bring people of all ages and backgrounds together, enhancing social cohesion and promoting civic engagement. It also offers a space for groups, clubs, and organizations to meet, plan, and deliver their activities, which contributes to the growth and vibrancy of the local community.

 

In addition, the center plays a vital role in addressing social issues and challenges, such as youth unemployment, substance abuse, and crime, by providing access to information, resources, and support services, such as counseling, mentoring, and advocacy. This helps to create a safer, healthier, and more resilient community.

Fettercairn Community and Youth Centre aims to provide a community resource Centre for the people of Fettercairn and the surrounding areas, through which individuals of all ages and community groups will have access to meeting spaces, advice, information and guidance, educational, social and leisure opportunities.

Since its inception the centre has provided a space where the community can meet socially and engage in educational and leisure activities in a friendly and welcoming environment.
